VELKA’s compositions clearly rotate in the regions of the Second Wave of Black Metal. The songs contain a powerful dose of emotional, furious and crushing Black Metal with lots of dominating very fast themes filled with predatory riffs, cutting solos, blasting hits and aggressive vocals. And the clean sound of the bass adds depth to the whole material. Sometimes these bass sounds are more audile.
The feavy and atmospheric slowdowns in the form of sharp arpeggios or atmospheric solos (most often with a melancholic tone) give a momentary rest.
The characteristic feature are polyphonic vocals, usually exposed simultaneously – black- metal devilish screams and monstrous, demonic growlings. In addition, dark melorecitations appear occasionally.
Rather, it is impossible to clearly define if VELKA’s Black Metal musical inspirations come from Scandinavia or North America. Some (fast) guitar’s melodies also bring to mind (Middle or East) European pagan-black-metal atmosphere. The album ends with the same mysterious steps and the ringing of bells with the wind in a background… So, something like an outro that clearly brings all the songs together into one conceptual whole.
VELKA’s music fulfills all the canons of Black Metal. There is dark blackness, there is predation, there are strong emotions…
