AURIUM was established in 2012 in Belgrade. The name of the band was inspired by the Latin medical term for tinnitus. Before that, they released two full-time albums and one digital EP. they performed in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The newest Serbs album has the attractive cover-art based on an interesting idea. The music on “Second Sun” is varied, rich in ideas. The styles of rock, hard-rock and, to a lesser extent metal are intertwined. The instrumentalists know their stuff, the drummer and bassist have moments for their performances, and so is the keyboards-player. The cooperation of the keyboardist with the singer, the drummer with the bassist and other combinations of musicians is often interesting.

The guitarist was used too little bit on the album, he does not present much of his advantages, which he undoubtedly has. The singer is often supported by her female friend, sometimes a male friend, and a female choir (this choir probably made by the keyboards?). Sometimes her singing is similar to Tarja Turunen (although the Serb does not have such charisma), she can also create a vocalise, sing lyrical, sad and dramatically.

The compositions are inspired by classical music – attention was paid to the principles of musical art. There are no outbursts of uncontrolled emotions. But there is a lot of drama, mood swings and dynamics. The Music is momentous, plentiful, ambitious. There is order in it.

In places there are similarities to NIGHTWISH, but only in fragments – in general, the Belgrade quintet surpasses the level of invention of the famous Finns.

It is not music for everyone, but it is also not very inaccessible, hermetic. Let anyone with ears hear! – as a controversial guy said two thousand years ago in the Middle East.
