ALERTA was founded in 1997 in the Basque country. “Tú Decides El Final” is their fifth album. I admit that in the early 90s I was a focus for Hardcore and few known bands like D.R.I., S.O.D., M.O.D., EVILDEAD, BIO-HAZARD, PRO-PAIN and a some others. However, for many years I have listened to this type of sound occasionally. Usually when reviewing…

And this time, listening to ALERTA, the band immediately gave me energy. This typical for the genre, spontaneity, aggression, very energetic simple rhythms and easily catchy melodies have something great in them.

The strongly shouted emotional vocals, the emphatic accents of backing vocals and the melodic humming chorus in the background with fast riffs create a piece of good Crossover playing with more emphasis on Core than Metal, sometimes introducing Post Punk phrases. These heavier plays bring associations with PRO-PAIN. In turn, these more melodious, the lightest fragments (refrains) I associate with Polish band – LUXTORPEDA. But ALERTA definitely presents a more aggressive form (vocally and musically) than LUX TORPEDA.

The material is Spanish-language (so incomprehensible to me) but catching single words I think that they do not deviate lyrically from the Hardcore norm, raising political and social topics.

There is nothing else but to jump in a pogo!
