Saturday morning (well, 12 a.m.) and finally I thought myself- maybe I should do something useful today? Vacuuming carpet? No. Watering plants? No. Antonello Giliberto with The Mansion Of Lost Souls ? Yeah, why not!
The Sicilian guitarists debut album has already interested me with its cover- amazing- I cant find any better word. But lets focus on music. As the love letter added to the CD (Ill call this funnypiece of paper like that- it increases my self-esteem) said, that his album is heavy, very dark and influenced by classical music Heavy- I agree in 100% – sometimes Ive got an impression that Im listening to Metallica on instrumental tracks (to people, who dont know me well- I like ONLY Metallicas instrumental tracks)- great example for it is Flight Of The Sleeper with very catchy main riff and galloping wall of sound in the background. But in which way the album is very dark? I dont know There are only two tracks, which sound more hmm sad and quiet- Sorrow and the title track. But in my opinion angry Antonello is much better than this sad one.
And at the end- influenced by classical music. Agree- its the most audible in Entract and Eqinox- there you can also feel an atmosphere typical for music from south Europe- so associations with holidays are sure
My absolutely favorite on The Mansion is The Power Of The Whip- lucky number 7. Its a quintesence of Gilibertos sound- still very heavy, but with strong melodies, what makes the album pleasant to listen.
Theres only one downside- the duration. Gilibertos guitar skills are incredible, but start to be a bit painful for ears after 12 tracks. Its like mosquito buzzing next to you for an hour
But every track on The Mansion Of Lost Souls is a masterpiece, which you HAVE TO know!
