The Italian label Alkemist Fanatix Europe threw me a pile of discs – of course in a positive meaning of the words. Although they seldom present the classic Metal bands, and often they present the various music hybrids of wide understood circle of Rock-Metal. But this time I have the classic and rather the neo-classic, because WINTER HAZE presents Power Metal with a female singing… The band exists since 2003 and it is the only album of them. Although they released the four-song EP “Silent Deception” too. But now I have the mentioned album at my workshop.

There are many Power Metal bands. Although this Italian quintet offers dynamics, heaviness and melody (known to all fans of Power Metal playing ) but with the pleasant addition of the beautiful singing of Giorgia, which sometimes rises to operatic scale. But this is not the style of NIGHTWISH, rather it is style of HAMMERFALL or whether style of STRTOVARIUS but with the charms of woman on the front of band (rarely supported by male growl), which significantly influenced to broadening the musical horizon.

The very rhythmic galloping phrases are flavoured by the plenty of guitar-solos and the outbursts of virtuosic orchestral sounds (often in a Progressive style) were appear in the songs. Metal of WINTER HAZE is very symphonic, certainly emotional and changeable… This shows the musical fan which expands to the monumental lightly dark melancholy hymns and sometimes even to the mawkish ballads.

A characteristic features of these bands are the multithreaded and sublime melodies (captivating the imagination of the listener) moving his into the world of fantasy. The same is with the music of WINTER HAZE. The music strongly influences for the feelings and imagination (creating beautiful sounds penetrating between the heavy themes).

WINTER HAZE shows itself well but the competition is huge. When I was writing the review then I encountered their ep from 2011 year (at MySpace). The ep announces the disputes musical progression to the side of Progressive Power Metal. No doubt, the ep “Silent Deception” presents better music.
