Parisian L'ESPRIT DU CLAN is frightening us over 15 years. During this time the band recorded five albums, played in the 17 countries for 127 concerts … “Chapitre V: Drama” has hit me in the face strongly from the beginning – the brutal and aggressive energy was created by the violent and aggressive guitar's riffs, the mighty screams and the crashing drums …
The compositions are crushing, both during the fast and the furious beats and heavy motor decelerations – very dark and climatic and sometimes even Industrial. I love such melody – very gloomy and a little psychedelic, sometimes colored by melancholy (which was pushed between the monstrously heavy themes). I love such rhythm – the guitars with the slow hits of snare drum and the quick hits of bass drums, interspersed by the volleys of blasts. I love such motor of guitars – a somewhat Industrial, mechanical and surprisingly variable. Another trumps are French texts which introduce specific atmosphere and originality. Furthermore, the team is not limited to the sound of distorted guitars and the band offers the clean guitar accents … The last work (instrumental) totally surprised me from the beginning (with the keyboards-acoustic introduction). The track sometimes showed itself even more as melodic, dark and mysterious.
I feel that I sense here the Scandinavian old school of Death Metal in style UNLEASHED, HYPOCRISY, but also i feel influences of GOJIRA. However, the associations are subjective but better illustrate the album of the French. An example of such subjective experience also are the guitar's motives in style Black Metal.
L 'ESPRIT DU CLAN exceeded my expectations. In total, I do not know what did I expect from the French metalheads? Total summarum, their music overthrowed me on my knees. L'ESPRIT DU CLAN is a deadly combination of heaviness and melody.
