The Canadian label Unicorn Digital proudly presents the album of legendary keyboardsman – Roger Powell, which played on the compositions of UTOPIA, DAVID BOWIE and MEAT LOAF
And all materials from the label contain the music inspired by the spirit of progressive music. And unfortunately in this case the music is not connected with Metal completely
However I hope, that the readers of Metal Centre will be more indulgent and sensitive for the sounds from the disc… because the14 works came into being by the piano improvisations, which we can hear in night smoky bars with specific jazz climate.
From technical side – the arrangements are the free interpretations (and rather jazz) of Classic Music (in style of calm compositions of FRYDERYK CHOPIN, CLAUDE DEBUSSY or GEORGE GERSHWIN). In this music we will hear (only provisionally) the minimal productions which give place to the complex passages However those improvisations are the well-thought-out coils of individual sounds and the chords The tracks introduce the listener in nostalgic-melancholy movie climate created by the piano sounds The music flows slowly and calmly. It creates the mood full of musing, a retrospection and even a hope Though stronger hits on the keys very seldom appear. The hits underline emotional intensity. But even in the largest degree these hits provoke to small swing of the pianist's body during his play.
The music of “Blue Note Ridge” induces to meditations. It is suitable for the people who spend time in loneliness with the particle of alcohol in the glass. It is the music for the people who want to stop for a moment and want to think about the sense of the past. The music also is for people who desire to relax and want to calm down from the chaos of everyday day.
