I never supposed that I will meet metal band, which will connect the music passion with my former passion to ancient Far East… PERSEFONE… The band name associates with ancient Greece but the album “Shin-Ken” is placed in climates of ancient Far East, and concretely it is connected with ancient Japan… Well, but in order… The album “Shin-Ken” was released by Kolony Records and was inspired by the splendid classic Japanese action movie. And viz the movie of “Miyamoto Musashi” of Hiroshi Inagaki from 1954 year. Moreover certain fact is curiosity that the band members come from Andorra, although some Japaneses hospitably also gave vocals on the album.

PERSEFONE reached to the times of Japanese warriors not only by the lyric, because here Japanese melodies also were played on the guitars and the keyboards, which appeared there among multitude typical metal subjects, then it brought many originalities to the music. The whole is very richly arranged creating extreme mixture of many species of metal and of progressive rock. Mainly on the first plan you will hear the patents of the sharp and predatory black/death metal (expressed by the very energetic and heavy guitar riffs as well as the multicolored aggressive vocals), which are interlaced by the masterly neo-classic heavy metal solos and the difficult prog-rock sections as well as the orchestral insertions of the keyboards. But here do not lack of the calmer subjects with clean vocals, that is more balladic, folk or outright the typical prog-rock. The compositions are full of the unexpected changes of subjects and the dynamicity. The sound's intensity often waves, because is able to crossing of very aggressive and lively emotions with placid and balladic emotions in one moment.

The music emotions create pretty dark mood full of fury interlaced by melancholy. The album is very changeable – dynamic, heavy and also melodious. From one side the music is demonic and from second side the music is beautiful and romantic.
