Some time ago I fell in love in Progressive Rock/Metal. And the bands in style of MANGROVE caused that my love to Fusion still blooms. My love started from MARILLION and DREAM THEATER. Obviously accomplishments of MANGROVE are closer to MARILLION. But this is not my only analogy, because so rich arrangements with lots of different thematic similarities brought the next associations e.g. with THE DOORS (thanks to the psychedelic motives of keys), with MEAT LOAF (thanks to the nostalgic and elevated climate like from a Rock Opera) or with GENESIS (thanks to the monumental and fabulous sound of keys) but it does not mark that MANGROVE does not propose for us the own solutions
Like in progressive compositions, the works are very complex thematically and sound. And therefore the time of duration usually is very long, thanks to their complex innovations. The longest song has over 18 minutes (!). The basis of arrangement are created by the guitar-keyboard subjects with lots of solo themes and the leitmotivs on background of pretty calm hits of the drums. It rather seems that the vocals play is somewhat smaller part here, although they also are very important (because they emphasize the emotions and lyrical layer). However I was lazy and I did not know the texts, because the added lyrics are in form of reflex of mirror.
Generally the music of MANGROVE is full of artistic skill, of beautiful musical subjects and of melody as well as of musical space. And additionally it also brings positive energy as well as simultaneously has the many of dynamic burst of passions. The climate of “Beyond Reality” is very sublime with moments of bliss, of melancholy and of nostalgia or even of psychedelic themes. The album “Beyond Reality” is a portal to other dimension from which you will not want to come back to reality.
