Certain people associate Black Metal with Norway. ORPHEUS also comes from Norway and despite their origin they don't play this blasphemous sort of metal music. Anyway, the album was sended by TSM/SLW Promotions and I don't remember something heavier from Heavy Metal from this label. And ORPHEUS just follows a path of Heavy Metal . Moreover certain fact is a curiosity – that woman stands on the front of the formation – Ingrid Galadriel. This rather is huge rarity in metal yard.
Supposedly the inspirations of IRON MAIDEN, IN FLAMES as well as GUNS'N'ROSES initiated the musicians to start their adventure with own music. And I affirm that particularly the influences of IRON MAIDEN and IN FLAMES are audible in the compositions of ORPHEUS. However after consideration of band name I expected more calm music… but the subjects of dynamic guitars, pretty heavy notes and the strong hits of rhythmical section appeared here. But without an exaggeration The some melodies often sound very heavy-metal and the music is sublime and energetic – something in style of predatory but still melodious songs of RUNNING WILD or IRON MAIDEN (obviously with the feminine singing). Moreover the many serves and melodies are marked by Swedish climate (like in style of IN FLAMES). I wonder – what are the true relationships between Norwegians and Swedes. They don't like themselves mutually in some movies, hahaha This probably is the next proof that the music heals manners.
Well, we are coming back into the music The compositions are very melodious despite dynamicity of the guitars because the solo themes of the guitars and the woman's timbre soften the whole. Though the singing of Ingrid more often is melancholy and even sleepy, but it sometimes possesses the predatorian note. However in spite of this fusion of dynamics with nostalgia I felt the lack of some hit, some piece which would throw down of me on the knees with his arrangement or some heavy metal hymn or the sleepy ballad. For that reason I took back this album as sedate and correct but without experience of musical obsession.
