Cool songs: Battle, Dagger of Lies, Until the Sunrise
The lads from ARONDIGHT surprised me a lot two years ago by releasing a quite interesting demo Incoming Siege, containing a lot of fresh and raw ideas for heavy metal. It was a real surprise because Poland is a place where heavy metal is appreciated mainly by fans and some fanatic bands, staying mainly in underground. The scene is not small, although still, I would wish it to be more alive. At the beginning of December, fellows released their full-length debut album titled Myths and Legends. During the process of releasing the CD they experienced some unpleasant changes in line up, but now they are ready to rock our socks!
The situation with ARONDIGHT is very simple: from the first sound you will hate or love them. No, there is no feeling in between, there is no place for sympathy, liking or disliking, there is that pure authentic love or vicious hate. How come? First of all they play heavy metal, but in a very raw form. There is no place for sparkling it with some outstanding, sweet melodies, it is just pure aggressive and harsh music for veterans. It is a classical performance with good craftsmanship. To start with the technicalities and other official stuff, they moved a lot, in plus, from their first recording. Great timing and groove, good synchronisation… they are a real team of fanatic musicians now. No one gets in front of the line, there is no place for selfishness. The parts are well coordinated and sound very good, although sometimes there is a feeling of incompleteness. For instance, the solo part in Last Stand lacks some background, a rhythm guitar is totally absent thus the composition is raw, but also incomplete at the same moment. in this composition it may be a deliberate effect, although putting it in a few more makes the album a bit… skinny. Where it comes to the vocal parts they are quite good. Still, English is not perfect, there are some slight mistakes, and Jareks manner of singing may annoy some, but hes got great voice. It is an uncut diamond and I believe that he will polish up his style very soon.
Their music still has got that fantastic claw. They kick ass from the very beginning, as Battle crushes bones with cool heavy riff and varied melodic lines. To be frank, the same situation is with the rest of the compositions, but Battle is a kind of killer. It is really raw, energetic, vicious and very heave. A real classic of genre. Some time ago, when Incoming Siege was released voices were heard that ARONDIGHT used style of RUNNING WILD. First of all, Jarek sticks to the old BLIND GUARDIAN vocal and that is a pure pro! With melodies, gentlemen are using classic riffs, more or less similar to the old classics, as mentioned before. But such compositions as Alliance of Black Sabre prove, that they are the Polish descendants of the German heavy metal legend. Now the RUNNING WILD features, like soggy solos, melodic leads and a lot of romanticism are present throughout the whole process of listening. That is not a problem, it is good that someone uses those patents. But they should be a bit more careful, because after a few albums the Germans started biting their tale.
As a result, we get a really well prepared album, with cool booklet and great heavy metal music. It is raw and a bit chary, but that is why I love heavy metal, for its testosterone. And that is the main feature of this album – it is a male oriented disc filled with hard rockin fantastic music, which needs a little cut to be perfect. As mentioned before, after the first try you will love or hate them. Im their fan. Its really worth to give them a chance. Open up for this great tune!
