All you need to know about LIGHT? is that Eugeny Churkin is the one man army, being the king of this one-piece formation from Russia. Created in 2002, Eugeny recorded two full-length CDs. ‘Mirrors’ is his debut album, released by Stygian Crypt Records in 2005.

‘Mirrors’ is a varied album, full of different content, indicating influences by death gothic and pagan folk metal, with developed and very poetic acoustic parts. The heavy and fleshy riffs can shake the ground, but when the atmosphere becomes too solid, melancholic and romantic tunes take the lead. To be frank, those slower, lazy, mysterious even elements, have the majority here. Because as in a model doom metal compositions, those elements dominate in every track. Therefore the music becomes multi-dimensional and sounds more interesting. But on the other hand, the multitude of dull motifs can really bring down, tire, and finally bore. Perfect doom, but a slight tune of progress would be desired here. So, only the fans of such play will be satisfied by this album, and I mean it.

LIGHT? recorded an album which is uneasy to place, as different styles shoot out of it during each composition. This mixture is quite interesting, but tires after some time. Mainly thanks to the repetitions – fourteen tracks – over one hour of music – it is obvious, that things had to repeat.
