The regulars of the Polish version of Metal Centre are fully acquainted with the band, a group which has been present on Polish scene since 2005 (still, formed not so long ago). Promo 2007 is their debut album, a material created on their own, by themselves. And it is important to stress, that ROTENGEIST have never performed covers, because the band did not feel the need to do such thing.
Prepare for an authentic power ride. This little promo is a powerful thrash entry, spiced up with some black riffs and interesting progressive elements. First of all, is the force – genuine energy – enclosed in this album, which can blow away. The guitars play heavily, the riffs are fleshy and rhythmic, maybe not enough varied, but as for a start, quite good. What is more, the music is not boring, thanks to those progressive infixes, plus constant pace and motif changes, which simply take the listener to the core of sound. Sometimes, I had an impression, that this album is a combination of a traditional speed metal and crafty thrash with a hint of black play. Which is definitely in plus. Last but not least are the drums, which are the most powerful mood-keeper of this music. Those fills are extremely dynamic, do not repeat, are performed with the usage of brains, not a schematic butchery, as it is very popular nowadays in the thrash society, and are really enjoyable. But as usually, there are some slight buts. First of all, goes the vocal line, which is definitely too silent. Therefore quite incomprehensible. And the same thing goes for the guitars, of which sound can annoy, because it is similar more to noise, than music. But as I said, as for beginning, it is enough.
All in all, Promo 2007 is a good album, as for a debut. It simply pulverizes with the energy. No shitty-performance and authenticity are the best features of ROTENGEIST, who seem to be one of the most promising thrash child on the Polish scene.
