Cool songs: I Am Legend

CONQUEST OF STEEL began their adventure in 2000 in Bradford. In the short history of existence, they recorded two full-length albums, two EPs, one demo and a split album with EVANESCE, a friendly death metal band. ‘Hammer & Fist’ is their recent production, still not well received by the critics. Is it really so not-listen-to stuff?

At the beginning there is only one thought: a typical representative of the classic heavy/power metal. Clean, melodic and dynamic riffs are just model sounds of heavy play. Medium-pitched voice also contributes to the overall image. The compositions are of high quality, varied: the motifs do not repeat too often, and the pace changes constantly. Although medium speed is the most dominant aspect here. ‘I Am Legend’ is the best track, the opening song is a real killer. But the content of ‘Hammer & Fist’ is quite poor: the compositions lack the most important feature – the power. What kind of power metal is that? What is more, COS music is and IRON MAIDEN carbon copy. There is no doubt, that they cop[y the style of the IRONS. And the indicators of their own style are: dull voices, uninteresting compositions and that church fair image. Hopping around in denim and barefoot, behaving like a drunk monkey… now that is a kind of power metal star, I would like to meet. And they are trying to measure with the kings of metal.

I have to admit, that after listening to the opening track I was happy to hear some solid power play, although later on, it evolved into some kind of floundering hard rock with speedy-like elements, without any concept or idea. There is no imagination in those compositions. And that extremely redneck-hillbilly style. Poor, gentlemen, poor.
