CREMATORY „Revolution”

Cool songs: Resurrection, Wake Up, Greed

Crematory is a band from Germany that's been around for over a decade and broke up in 2002 only to reform in 2004 and release “Revolution” their 10th album. It's death with keyboards. It starts out good and heavy with “Resurrection” and “Wake Up” and some good thrashy death with “Greed”, but as the cd plays on it seems to mellow into more piano and keyboard tempos and slows quite a bit, as on 'Reign Of Fear”. “Open Your Eyes” takes a more Industrial approach. It's speedy but loses the Death Metal edges. “Tick Tack” is also more technical than your standard Death and “Angel Of Fate” is alot more piano and keyboard laden, although it keeps a heavy rhythm and the vocals switch between growling and clean. “Solitary Psycho” has some heavy rhythm and death vox, but still the hard edges are gone and the mellow interludes are many. Kind of like the newer Opeth stuff. The title track, “Revolution”, is a speedy rockin' song with a good steady melody and again trades growling and clean vocals. “Human Blood” is an Industrial growler. The Death seems to slow into German power metal on the track “Red Sky” and “Farewell Letter” is a piano ballad.

It's good if you like a mix of Death with Industrial sounds piano and power metal, but if you don't like mixing your Death with anything, then the interludes of clean rock won't be suitable.
