Salem are a new band to me but not new to the scene. They have been around in one form ore another since 1985. Being a heavy metal band from ISRAEL you can imagine the hard road they have had to travel. Apon receiving this disc I was not sure as to what I was getting into but tried it with an open mind. Salem are an extreme metal band that gives the extreme metal fan just what they expect but the only problem with this disc is that it has all been done before. The 12 songs on this disc seem to all run together without much variation in sound or style. there seems to be one sound and style for this disc with 12 small breaks. I really hate to give bed reviews but there has to be something on the disc to write about and there is nothing here. The vocal work on this disc reminds me of someone crying out in pain. It all seems to be forced with no natural flow. I don't mind a growler or a screamer but it has to be effortless and natural. There will be a lot of extreme metal fans that will like this disc but as for me I cant find much here to like. You would figure that a band that has been around as long as SALEM has that they would be writing better stuff by now but keep trying guys.
