ORODRUIN „Epicurean Mass”

ORODRUIN are a new comer to the doom metal scene. Hailing from the state of NEW YORK this band comes from an area that you done think of when it comes to doom metal. This band consists of Mike Puleo (vox & bass), John Gallo (guitar & organ), Nick Tydelski (guitar), Mike Waske (drums). All that can really be said about this CD is WOW. For a first full length disc these guys have got it going. The whole vibe to this CD is DOOM DOOM DOOM. The guitar sound on this disc would make the God of doom Tony Iommi proud. The riffs are very thick and heavy with a bottom end sound from the bass and drums that feels like a two ton weight on your chest. The organ work is layered in with the heavy sound of the disc to create an atmosphere that almost makes you feel like you are standing in a funeral home along side of a metal band. The vocal work is crisp and clean and presents an Erie feeling of death. The production could have been just a tad cleaner but the performance of the band pretty much outshadows that. Keep your eyes and ears open for these guys. Anyone that is in to the sounds of bands such as TROUBLE, ST VITUS, CANDLEMASS, or CATHEDRAL will most likely enjoy this disc. This CD gets a high rating from me which very rarely happens on a Demo.

note: 8.5 out of 10
