WINO, THE SWORD among HIGH TIMES MAGAZINE Doobie award winners

HIGH TIMES MAGAZINE, the world's foremost Cannabis culture rag, floated into Austin, Texas on March 21, 2009 to present their annual Doobie awards. Legendary stoner/doom artist WINO took home the prize for Best Stoner Rock Artist. Fresh off their tour with METALLICA, local stoner metal heroes–THE SWORD accepted the award for Best Metal Artist.

WINO recently released his debut solo record “Punctured Equilibrium” through Southern Lord. He is best known for his work singing and playing guitar for vaunted stoner/doom acts such as THE OBSESSED, ST. VITUS, THE HIDDEN HAND and PLACE OF SKULLS.

Other award winners include JOHNNY WINTER for the Life Time Achievement Award, BLACK WATER RISING for Best Rock/Alternative Artist, and GRAVEYARD BBQ for Best New/Underground Artist.

HIGH TIMES presented each winner with a glass pipe trophy. Doug Pinnick of KING'S X and Kyle Shutt of THE SWORD were among the presenters.
