BURZUM Front Man Denied Parole

BURZUM mastermind Varg Vikernes – who is currently serving time for murder at Tromsř Prison in Norway – has been denied parole again.

Vikernes is currently incarcerated because of his 1993 conviction for the murder of his former friend and bandmate Řystein Aarseth (also known as Euronymous) of the black metal band MAYHEM. Vikernes was additionally found guilty of arson in several cases. He received the maximum sentence in Norway of 21 years in prison, though it has been shortened (as is usually the case in Norway) and lengthened due to his escape attempt. During his time in prison, he has recorded two albums (Dauđi Baldrs and Hliđskjálf). His request for parole was first denied in June 2006.
