VOIVOD Wins Best Metal/Hardcore Album at Quebec Music Awards

The End Records posted the following blog via their MySpace page:

Tuesday morning, 11:42 am. Need CAFFEINE. Craving NICOTINE.

Other people in the world are doing better than me, notably, some of our bands:

Montreal's pioneering metal band VOIVOD won the Best Metal/Hardcore Album award for their album 2006 album 'Katorz' at the annual Quebec Independent Music Awards (GAMIQ) this past weekend in Montreal, Quebec.

The album was assembled, recorded and released by the band (drummer Michel 'Away' Langevin,' singer Denis 'Sanke' Belanger and bassist Jason 'Jasonic' Newsted) and producer Glen Robinson using demos left by by founding guitarist Denis “Piggy” D'Amour who succumbed to colon cancer in August of 2006.

Voivod beat out another The End band, UneXpect for 'In a Flesh Aquarium,' for the title. Do I smell a THE END bands fight brewing? … Probably not, but it would be hilarious to get some drama 'round the office.
