The Scandinavia is not only Black or Power Metal. Death Metal is also one of the most popular genres in those countries (mainly its melodic cousin). CARNEOUS is a pure Death Metal production. This adventure started in 2004 and still continues.

There is no doubt from the beginning, that CARNEOUS are on the right track, to become a strong player on the death scene. The compositions are quite varied, there is no place for some huge repetitions or predictability, nor in ideas nor motifs. The riffs are strong and fleshy, they create a really death atmosphere. Combined with the powerful drums, together with them, they put a huge dose of power to this little demo. Tobias’s hoarse vocal is a really death model. He is absolutely fabulous. In “Dismembered Reality”, it is reinforced by a strong and clean male voice, which makes the song more particular and kicks it higher in the rank. The variety of motifs is also worth to mention. The moods change quite often, and in every song. Of course, as it was easy to predict, there is that stupid feeling, that someone did all of those things earlier. What is more, it feels, that the previous “performers” did it better. And this is the main problem with this album. Despite of having good compositions, they are only… good. Not “very good”. It is a schematic death metal. There is nothing new.

If someone is a death fan, this propositions might please the listener. If a connoisseur, will just ease this album up. But all in all… just give it a listen. Just to hear, how a good piece of death metal should sound like.
