ROB ZOMBIE Discusses Bassist's Departure

Launch Radio Networks reports: ROB ZOMBIE kicked off his “American Witch Across America” tour on Friday (June 30), with bassist Matt Montgomery along as the newest member of his live band. Montgomery replaced longtime bass player Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, who left to join Ozzy Osbourne's backing group on Ozzfest. Zombie told Launch that Nicholson's departure was completely amicable. “During the downtime, before I had come back and started making music, he had sort of always talked about going out to playing with Ozzy, and that was when Ozzy had gotten hurt riding the all-terrain vehicles or whatever in England, so Blasko never got to do his Ozzy tour,” he said. “And then it just kept bouncing back and forth and it just was an opportunity that came up, and he wanted to do it, and it's all cool and I never take it personally and we're friends.”

Zombie plays tonight (Wednesday, July 5) in McAllen, Texas.

After this run is completed, Zombie will head back out on a co-headlining trek with GODSMACK that begins on August 25 in Dallas, Texas.

Zombie recently announced that he will direct a new version of the classic 1978 horror film, “Halloween”, with an October 2007 release planned.
