Motown is no longer just known for Classic Rock and 60s R & B because NOCTURNAL FEAR has brought lethal thrash to its metal-starved masses. Perhaps Detroits ruinous environment prompted the lethal four-piece to create such a raging piece of destructive thrash. Thrashing faster than a car ride through some of Detroits less affluent neighborhoods, the group combines classic elements of SODOM, DESTRUCTION, KREATOR with a scattering of early death metal.
The albums title track is a prime example of molding brutal death metal with mosh-friendly Thrash. The track begins with classic Heavy Metal bar chords that transition into fiery Death Metal in the vein of early PESTILENCE. Remorseless Wargrinder commands the Death Metal charge with a toxic bellow. Soon the reinforcements come in the form of fearless, fret burning, old-school speed metal in the tradition of KREATOR in its early stages. The thrashing, martial assault only gets faster and more lethal with a barrage of pounding war drums, rapid-fire double bass, air raid vocals, and charging guitars. The tracks Generations of Mutations, Resurrected from the Past, and Suicide Solders will assail your ears with blazing speed metal with mega death proportions. Guitarist, Slavehunter is the groups special weapon, daring any shorthaired, baggy-pants, poseur to cross true-metal lines and challenge him to a guitar duel.
With Fog of War NOCTURNAL FEAR has given the denim, Aviator Sunglass, bullet belt crowd a reason to cheer. No longer will this group of metal veterans idly stand by, watching Metal Core become the New Thrash. NOCTURNAL FEAR plays a brand of metal from a time when parents still feared its potential for corrupting their youth. This is the way metal is supposed to be played!
