THOU ART LORD „Dv8”

THOU ART LORD „Dv8” - okładka

Aaaaarrrggghhh!!!! Thou Art Lord is one of the greatest greek black metal acts ever and their two first albums are cult. When I first listened to their debut “Eosforos” (with an amazing cover), I was amazed by their music. After many years in silence Thou Art Lord come back with their third album. The line up is different now and the trio is Sakis of Rotting Christ, Magus of Necromantia and Set of Septic Flesh with the help of Akis Kapranos with the drums and many guest musicians. If you think you will find similarities with their first albums you are wrong as I was. The only thing that remains the same is that it is an extreme album. There are no heavy/black riffs the way we knew but they have been replaced by Norwegian black metal ones! Some riffs are really amazing and I think this is the way Sakis would like Rotting Christ to be right now. Vocals are performed by Set and Merkaal (Order Of The Ebon Hand) most times and the difference is great. Brutal ones with black metal screams! In songs like “Society of the dilettanti” the verse is like the half to be a tribute to Morbid Angel and the other half to Darkthrone! Musically I love this album even if it differs from their previous ones. But I want to point out some things I disliked. First of all I can`t understand the change of their old logo. It was as extreme as is their music now. And the second one is the cover which I really do not like. I think they should pay more attention to this matters and not follow the way most greek bands do nowadays. Thou Art Lord was an extreme black metal act in every matter and this is it should be remain. This is only my opinion so do not worry! “the chains have been broken. Our reign has just begun…”
