BLACK STEEL „Destructor”

BLACK STEEL „Destructor” - okładka

This cd was given a very aggressive title but couldn't live up to it. This is more of a progressive metal sound on this disc. The over all sound of this cd makes me think that I am listening to a very early Gamma Ray without the speed. The vocal approach is solid and has attitude. although he don't fair to well with the high notes but he still has a solid sounding voice that will only get better with time and better production. The band themselves are solid and clean. the guitar work reminds me at times of Gus G of DREAM EVIL or Kai Hansen of GAMMA RAY of the early years. solid and clean but his best work has yet to come. There are a few spots on the disc where they use keyboards and do it well without going into overkill.
The production of the bottom end of Bass & drums are the highlight of the disc. Good riffs and clean hooks are what you will get with this cd but nothing ground breaking. Over all sound is good but not great. This is a band that could be able to do great things just not right now. They will have to experience some growing pains but it will be interesting to see what they can do in the future. This band has room to grow but if you are a fan of ENOLA GAY or very early GAMMA RAY without the speed you will like this cd.

note: 7 out of 10
