News from HOG

With a sound as bone-crunching as it is relentless, Swedish/Danish metal quartet HOG has crushed audiences since their forming in 2012. Driven, stubborn and down-to-earth gentlemen, the band take a combined 100 years of musicianship to their intense live shows.HOG are now set to release their debut full-length album “Arahant” through Danish label Mighty Music on June 3, 2016. Produced in true DIY fashion by the band, it is a high-density collection of heavy and brutal songs. From the feral ferocity of “Zenith” and the doom-laden stomp of “Nadir” to the steamroller track “Remembrance”, with this album HOG delivers an iron-hard soundscape of modern metal music.

The album has been preceded by two singles: “Into the Chasm” and “Serpent Coil”. The latter track includes Martin Westerstrand (Lillasyster, LOK) on guest vocals and is supported with a fast-paced music video shot in an old, haunted farmhouse!

HOG takes pride in writing lyrics with topics outside of the expected or mainstream. For example, the lyrics to the title-track “Arahant” were inspired by Buddhism and describe a higher level of spiritual self and perfected wisdom, where you no longer feel greed, fear or hate.

HOG plays metal based on intricate, low-end guitar riffs and a solid rhythm backbone. To this foundation, Danish vocalist Niels Andersen adds his unique mix of killer growls and soaring vocal melodies, thus completing the HOG sound.

Sweden’s biggest metal magazine Close Up has compared HOG to Meshuggah as well as to Black Crown Initiate.

We welcome you all with brutal love to your new metal authority – HOG.
