This time, the label Metal Revelation presents third album of Norwegians from GUARDIANS OF TIME. The added leaflet informs that their style is the resultant fascination of music created by IRON MAIDEN, QUEENSRYCHE, GAMMA RAY, JUDAS PRIEST and HELLOWEEN. Although GUARDIANS OF TIME has more modern approach to the music, and it is audible by added growling among sung phrases and by heavier sound of the guitars with accents of keyboards.
The beginning of album reminded me the game of PC – MAX PAYNE – some monologue of the unknown person… And the music? Really, some motifs remind IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST. But I would add CANDLEMASS also (but with accelerated pace, hahaha…). Well, what we can to expect from musicians with the over ten years' experience? They reinforced different bands by their presence, e.g. TRAIL OF TERAS. An amateurism is not here. The musicians present their artistry and ideas bravely. And the works are typical for Heavy/Power Metal and the songs also are dynamic, heavy as well as very melodious, with different parties of solos and with very catchy melodies as well as with pathetic climate. The every creation contains some characteristic feature, it usually is some solo or vocal and melodic line, or else the backing singers and refrain. Though the song “The Man” seemed some stylistic surprise, reminding the playing of DEEP PURPLE.
The compositions from “A Beautiful Atrocity” portray the power of classic Metal, its rapacity but also emotionality (we will hear it in balladic elements)… The works fall into ears easily, and load the batteries… and the music brings in positive madness.
