HIGH ON FIRE to support LAMB OF GOD Austrlian tour

World-renowned power trio HIGH ON FIRE has announced December, 2009 Australian tour dates alongside Lamb of God. The metal heavyweights will join forces beginning December 11 in Brisbane as part of a touring bill that will also include Devildriver and Shadows Fall. The just-announced expedition’s complete itinerary can be found below.

Universally recognized as one of the most potent acts in music today, HIGH ON FIRE creates “bad-ass” modern metal that merges primal fury and aggression, skyscraping riff explosions and hesher bombast with a monolithic heaviness. Described as “a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume and sheer heaviness,” HIGH ON FIRE has burned the hard rock rulebook since its formation in 1998, forging a style and sound that is both unique and absolutely crushing. The group features vocalist and cult guitar hero Matt Pike, powerhouse drummer Des Kensel and bassist Jeff Matz. Pike, a founding member of the famed underground band SLEEP and one of heavy music’s most charismatic figures was named as one of Rolling Stone’s “New Guitar Gods”.

HIGH ON FIRE’s long-awaited, fifth studio album and follow-up to 2007’s Death is This Communion is currently nearing completion. The award-winning band worked with producer Greg Fidelman (Metallica, Slayer, Johnny Cash) at Los Angeles’ The Pass Studios with the goal of capturing “the ultimate High on Fire experience.” Images of HIGH ON FIRE hard at work on the album (brought to life by photographer Andrew Stuart) can be viewed at the following locations (HOF studio pic 1, HOF studio pic 2, HOF studio pic 3). The album is slated for a January 23, 2010 release via E1 Music.

HIGH ON FIRE is presently in the midst of a North American tour with Mastodon, Dethklok and Converge. The band plays the Mesa Amphitheater in Mesa, AZ this evening and will wrap the trek on November 21 with a performance at the Event Center in San Jose, CA.
