Cool songs: We Will Rise

The band was formed in 2002 by Andrea and Enrico, who had problems with bass guitarist and drummer, so they finally ended up as a duet. In 2003 they released their first mini CD titled ‘At The Edge Of Existence’ which sounded like classical heavy metal music. In 2004 they recorded ‘Inner Voices’ and their style finally fossilized – they have been playing progressive metal.

The first notes of this album made me want to turn it off and throw away, as far as I was able to. The farther notes reassured me in this decision: my brain was defending itself from being flooded by this incomprehensible and lacking in compactness play. ‘Inner Voices’ is a powerful and dynamic production but realized and mixed in a way, which hurts the ears. The sound is really awful. The technical level of the musicians is completely illegible, everything is blurred and hidden in that noise-mist. What is more, all the three compositions use the same ‘engine’, they do not differ one from another much, thus they will not draw the attention of more demanding public. The riffs are classic thrash/black, heavy and hoarse vocal reinforces them quite well, but the drums are a complete catastrophe, the drummer even gets lost in ‘The Martyr’ which probably was a martyr for him.

Repeating own ideas, when they lack in originality and freshness is not a good idea. This album is an example of how an album should not look and sound like. If you want to record something of your own, listen to it obligatory, in order not to repeat those mistakes. If your ‘child’ is at similar in one point, give it a break and start thinking about another project.
