Naumachia is a new band from Poland and “Wrathorn” is their debut album. It was released back in 2003 by Empire and in the beginning of 2005 the French label Adipocere released this album in the rest of Europe and in North America. Poland is a country with many new metal bands nowadays but unfortunately most of them are average and only a few are able to do something better in the future. Naumachia is one of the bands that belong to the second category.

They are into melodic death metal with some black metal influences and they are very good. Something like Rotting Christ meet Old Man’s Child with many melodic parts. Especially their vocals are very close to those of Rotting Christ. Songs like “Blustud”, “Diamond” and “Lifeitis” will satisfy every fan of this style. I would just like less keyboards. I am not the biggest fan of this instrument as I think that sometimes keyboards overload some songs. In “Wrathorn” there has been done a very good work in the guitars. They are very well played and the riffs are fast, aggressive and melodic at the same time. The production is very good too as well as the booklet that contains all the lyrics and info about the band with a nice artwork.
If you like melodic black/death metal then you can check Naumachia out. Especially if you like Rotting Christ (of their new era) you will find this band very interesting as I did.
