Linear Sphere is a new metal band and I have heard many good things about them. I have their album for a long time now and I have listened to it many times. I think it is the album I have listened to the most times before I review it. In the first time I didn’t like it. Besides, I am not the greatest fan of progressive music. But the fact that every review I found about them was good and that every friend of mine who listened to it found it great made me think that I might didn’t pay the required attention to it so I started listening to it again.

After so many listenings of it I can say the following:
Their music is progressive and technical as well. Don’t think of bands like Rush, Fates Warning and Pain Of Salvation. Linear Sphere are closer to the style of Psychotic Waltz and Sieges Even. They don’t sound like these bands, it is just that they are technical in that way. Sometimes they manage to combine their technical skills with feelings in their music like in “Marketing” but to the most songs it seems to me that the band is just trying to present us its skills.

The vocals of Jos Geron are really weird. Sometimes clean and other times harsh, they are very average and I think this is Linear Sphere’s major disadvantage. There are some very good songs in this album like “Ceremony Master” but these vocals are tiring to me and I would prefer some clean ones that would emit feelings to the listener.
The production is very good for the style and if we take into consideration that this is their debut album we have to congratulate them. I wish all new metal bands had a production like this one.

To sum up, if you like progressive music with many technical parts then Linear Sphere is a very good suggestion to you. They are very good in what they do and even if I am not excited with their music as I am not the most dedicated fan of this style, I am sure you’ll find them at least interesting.
