Slovenian SKYEYE released its debut album “Digital God” after about 4 years of existence. And from the first song we can notice that the band is inspired by IRON MAIDEN, to the extent that the vocalist at times sounds like Bruce Dickinson, but that does not mean that Jan Leščanec (vocalist) has no own opinion on how to sing in heavy- metal band. And here the vocals sound very good and use very well all multicolored sounds, from the high, even falsetto, and ending with those low sounds – ominous and more predatory.

Instrumentally, it is also very classic – in relation to NWOBHM – strong, energetic riffs with a large number of solo parts of the guitars and melodious singins and vocalizations. Of course, here also is this specific momentum forward, gallop, dynamics, claw and easily catchy melodies as well as choruses.

The similarity to IRON MAIDEN is also heard in characteristic arrangements, in the structures of riffs, in the use of similar actings enriching the work along with melody and dynamics. Although SKYEYE also presents completely different ideas – sometimes deviating from the classic approach – quite modernist, and even far from the standards of Heavy Metal. In spite of everything, the tone of IRON MAIDEN prevails.

SKYEYE perfectly follows the path marked by IRON MAIDEN. Even if it sounds identical in places, I think it should be a reason of pride.
