SOUL LESS DIVINE performed and recorded albums for nine years. Nine full years they were present on the grind metal scene, and those years were not wasted. Since 1998, when the group was formed, they managed to record five albums: two demos, one EP, and two long plays. ‘Dishonourable Suffering’ was their first full-length release.

Despite of such a pushing-away title, the album has not got much to do with the suffering itself. Being an extreme mixture of brutal black sounds, it brings rather pleasure [sic!] than pain. The compositions are varied and the ideas do not repeat. Everything is kept in a quasi-rehearsal climate: the instruments sound a bit too rookie, a little dose of professional mastering would do just fine. The rhythmical sections are of the same high quality, the volume is also properly set. The instruments do not disturb one another, maybe the vocal line (or the growl line, to be more precise) is a bit too loud and pushes the music far into the background. The fleshy and speedy riffs give this music an aggressive character. The motifs change quite often – there can be three or even four different furious themes in each song, which makes it more interesting and a bit progressive. Last but not least, the melodic line appears in the compositions, which is an another phenomenon as for grind metal. It is a little shining diamond, unfortunately, no one would ever cut it.

All in all, this album is very good. The melodic section is able to absorb the listener with its variety and originality, the fleshy growl sounds fantastically, and completes the whole work. But those little minuses as too loud vocal lines, or not mentioned problems with keeping up the pace show, that this album was a debut. Although a very good one, the best one could ever imagine. Too bad there will be no more music from this blacksmith.
