THARAPHITA was born in 1995 and its father was Ank, who had been playing in some underground metal bands since 1991. After the consolidation of the line up, the members aimed at playing music closest to their hearts, combining black and heavy metal with elements from pagan folk music. And they are still doing it… and doing it fantastically.

‘Primeval Force’ is an album containing several interesting surprises: first of all, it nicely mixes heavy and black metal, plus those pagan drums… wonderful. What is more, the music is kept in a similar climate as the veteran’s of heavy metal – GRAVE DIGGER. They may not have anything in common, but still both groups create a unique atmosphere during the performance. Furthermore, the compositions are very varied: the guys do not end up using one or two basic ideas – the songs start maybe a bit too monotonously, but they wind up later on and are real killers. A great example of this situation is the fantastic ‘Sorceress’. And the ideas used here, are not maybe sub-zero innovative, but still put together in such order, they created a nice puzzle, where single brick fits like a glove. At the beginning we get heavy metal, later on a hybrid of melodic death and pagan black, sometimes finishing with speedy power metal with acoustic elements. Pure pleasure for ears.

THARAPHITA created an original album, which is really catchy and does not allow one to quit so easily. It is a very characteristic music, which will sound in your head for months.
