PUSHER III: I'M THE ANGEL OF DEATH begins at an NA meeting. Attending this meeting is Milo (Zlatko Buric)—one of Copenhagen’s most powerful crime bosses. Milo comes to NA meetings to help him overcome his drug addiction. Milo mentions it is his daughter’s 25th birthday and he has to prepare for her birthday party. The movie’s conflict is displayed in this opening scene. Being one of the largest drug pushers in the city is sure to make quitting a near-impossible task for Milo, especially with the added pressure of making sure his daughter’s birthday party goes smoothly. The pressure builds when he receives a car full of extasy in place of the heroin as planned. Milo discovers there was a mix up in the cars and agrees to take the extasy, even though he knows nothing about the drug. Milo brings in one of his street dealers, Mohammed (Ilyas Agac) to sell the ex. Mohammed shows Milo little respect, showing the two in a power struggle. When Mohammed fails to stick to the plan, the Armenian dealers begin to treat Milo as a lowly gopher boy. Milo must figure a way to find Mohammed, make dinner for his daughter’s party, and keep the Armenians at bay.

PUSHER III takes a different look into the only character present in all three PUSHER movies, Milo. In the first two films Milo is the one who people owe money. In III he is the one in debt. At this time, Milo has become middle aged. He is an aged and experienced crime boss. It is doubtful that this is the first time he has gotten into a mess. PUSHER III shows just how dangerous a man of Milo’s stature can be when cornered.

Just like the previous two films, writer Nicolas Winding Refn unravels the plot slowly, with the action and excitement gradually building. Although Milo is a powerful man of great stature, Refn shows him losing control. This anticipation of Milo's next move and if he will get his self out of the shit he is stuck in is what makes PUSHER III an engaging watch. PUSHER III may lack the overall amount of action of the previous two films, but patient viewers will be rewarded with a shocking, horrific ending that seems more absolute than the prior films. If PUSHER III is playing in a theatre near you, I recommend you witness this powerful film.
