LUNA AD NOCTUM – Interview with Adrian Nefarious

Since the birth of mankind, humans have always been fascinated with the moon, in particular the full moon. The moon has kept ancient and modern primitive societies enthralled by its supernatural aura. Modern societies of today understand that the moon is nothing but a massive rock in our planet’s orbit. Regardless, many educated people still believe that the full moon makes people act crazy. In fact, the word “lunatic” comes from the word lunar, another term for the moon. Poland’s LUNA AD NOCTUM found the moon so enchanting; they named their band after it. Chief songwriter, bassist, and vocalist of the band, Adrian Nefarious turned his eyes away from the moons’ enchanting rays long enough to discuss with Metal Centre his band’s name as well as other topics of pure lunacy.

The band’s eclectic mix of melody, Maiden and malevolent black metal has earned them a spot amongst the elite black metal bands in the United States. Having just released a CD of unreleased material and gems throughout the band’s history, “Recollection,” guitarist and vocalist, Joe Van Fossen was kind enough to discuss (via email) this recent offering, past efforts, and future endeavors.

These boys from Boston retained the aggressive, yet melodic and technical sound present on their Metal Blade debut “The Oncoming Storm.” Not only did they stay true to their sound, they improved upon it.

LUNA AD NOCTUM „“Sempiternal Consecration””

Poland’s LUNA AD NOCTUM recently released their third album “The Perfect Evil in Mortal.” After listening to this latest offering then revisiting their previous effort “Sempiternal Consecration,” released in 2004, one can see an “evilution” in the band’s sound. “Sempiternal Consecration” displays many of the same elements of “The Perfect Evil in Mortal,” in particular the symphonic keyboards.
