The band was formed in 1994 in Roskilde, a wealthy Danish city with many antiques, and cyclically organized rock festival famous in over world. This band should not be confused with the Russian grindcore band with the same name, which operated in 1993-1997. Earlier than the latest DEADFLESH release, they made one demo and two full-time albums.
The Danes create in the style of old school death metal. They say what they want to say without unnecessary complications, there is no equilibristic violations in their music, only there are simple blows to the head. However it is not an exposure of primitivism, only it is solid death-metal. Aggression dominates, but there are also heavy, crushing fragments. Some of the tracks have some interwoven speeches by some guys (if I understood them then these were in political topics), and also reloading of weapons and yet gunfire as well as other sounds.
DEADFLESH is supposedly compared to BOLT THROWER. And indeed, the both bands combine a some melody combined with brutality, the catchiness of the compositions, that is very attractive. The instrumentalists play professionally, but especially the lead guitarist gives to the music a powerful kick, he pulls along the whole band behind him. His solos are simple but interesting. The vocalist growls with a lot of expression. Drummer hits without virtuosery, but brilliantly.
The production is not sterile, which fits well with this type of metal. In the music of Metal-heads from Roskilde is hidden a fascinating, addictive pulsation. The mood of darkness and pessimism prevails, but there is also the element of light, the biological energy of life. Maybe at times the music seems a bit monotonous to me, but luckily these are just moments. The overall rating of the board is very positive.
