Sicily, a wonderful piece of the Earth… Musically seen it is not behind the moon, now and then it bears a heavy metal band and this it did in the year 1999. FIGHTING WARRIORS sit right in the power metal cliché, what you can easily see from the band name. Behind the story of “Dextera Dei – The Tales Of Iarus” hides a concept story about the knight Iarus, who loses his son Yama and now fights with himself. And then there comes the classical fight between good and evil – I have to yawn… Indeed this demo CD gives insights into parts of the Iarus story. But the whole story has not been finished yet. What you can listen to is not the from the band itself said „power epic progressive metal with black and gothic metal influences“. Only the concept and the band name head for the typical power metal direction, as I said. In no way they are to compare FIGHTING WARRIORS with (like the info sheet says) Symphony X, Dream Theater, Stratovarius, Rhapsody or After Forever.

The spoken words should be used for the introduction and for the background of the story. Those unfortunately mislead the effect, because the speaker does not have the charismatic voice to pull up the right atmosphere. Unfortunately even the music and the female voice are not able to enthuse the listener, because everything was heard before, no excitement was built up, respectively. Singer Cinzia has got problems with the high sections. Why fighting hard and try to get the high tones, when you are not able to? It sounds like mice squeaking („Dextera Dei“). Also the a little bit rougher vocals in „Stop the crying“ do not come along, like they actually should. Crashs are preprogrammed („Out of my hell“). The instrumentalists in the opposite can be happy with their abilities, but they cannot create something exciting or outstanding. Unfortunately it is too uninteresting, because it´s standard.
