SWALLOW THE SUN „The Morning Never Came”

SWALLOW THE SUN „The Morning Never Came” - okładka

There is no need to review this album. You can just download the sample of “Under The Waves” in the relevant section and then you will most probably buy the band’s debut album! You see, there are some albums that you can’t review that easy. And especially in death/doom metal that is a style with many feelings in it. Is it easy to describe a feeling?

The most recent good debut album by a doom/death metal band I remember I’ve listened is the one of Mourninf Beloveth. Apart from that, I really cannot remember such a great release! “If Dark Tranquillity suddenly decided to play doom, this is what it might sound like.” This is what Potrokh said in his review about this album. My opinion is that “The Morning Never Came” is the perfect combination of My Dying Bride and Saturnus. The melodies are so painful, the vocals are so aggressive, the keyboards travel you away from reality… It is very hard to describe this album. It is full of feelings. Feelings of grief, melancholy, pain and it ends up to resurrection. Listen to the solo of “Out Of This Gloomy Light” and you will understand.

The morning never came and we are surrounded by darkness. A never-ending darkness that makes us be afraid of everything and as a result we stand alone trying to face ourselves. And this is much more difficult than facing others. We fight with our feelings and there is no winner. I can stay here trying to describe this album for days but I am sure you will not understand how I feel whenever I listen to it. Some empty words would be… “a debut from a doom/death metal band from Finland that combines the sound of Saturnus and My Dying Bride with many keyboards and a very good singer” but I think this is funny. Funny because , to me at least, this is not only music but feelings as well and I can’t describe mine. I can only express them so please go and download the sample of Swallow The Sun and be ready for a long journey during an endless night with destination to your soul…

One more word…MASTERPIECE!!!
