7th NEMESIS – Interview with the band

It's been a little while before I can finally present you with an interview with 7th NEMESIS. First, I couldn't make myself sit down and write the questions to Alex – I guess it's him who has answered them… Then the contact adress has changed and the call “The best chestnuts on Pigal Square” didn't fit the response “Suzanna likes them in autumn” anymore. So Your J-23 agent was forced to hide himself in the basement for Brunner kept on follwing him… Anyway, if the interview appears online tomorrow, I'll be in Top 10!

Hello Guys! The biography you send me with your Promotional CD is quite short. It seems that 7th Nemesis was born from the merging of two bands: INWARD MIND and SARGANAS. How long existed those bands before you decided to create the present monster?

Hails! Well our bio was quite short because we are a quite young band. Anyway, you're right about our origins, 7th Nemesis is composed by former members of Inward Mind (Alex and Xav, both on guitars) and Sarganas (Sargon at vocals and Mat at bass). Sarganas stand for something like 2 years and Inward Mind for 7 years.

I asked you that because your music is fuckin' killing! So it seems obvious that you play since much more longer than 2000. Do your previous bands achieved to find some success? I mean, do they achieved to be known abroad?

Well, Inward Mind has released an album by their own and Sarganas has done nothing else than rehearse, lol. Anyway, both projects had split up now so, they do not deserve any interest anymore.

In my opinion every single thing that concerns time before 7th NEMESIS is worth paying attention at! If INWARD MIND and SARGANAS hadn't dissolved your band wouldn't exist now. Am I right?

Indeed, all the previous projects, enabled us to acquire more experience and professionalism.

What happened with Pascal? What is he doing now? And what was actually the reason of his departure?

Well, Pascal is a good friend of ours, he just wanted to experiment others things so he has set up a stoner rock project. His loss was regrettable but the arrival of Xavier brings a lot to the band so his leaving wasn't too difficult to cope with.

There is naturally some pain left after a lost friend, but do you think that Pascal would have any success with his project? I think the will to experiment didn't matter – it was rather some kind of boredom with what he was doing with your band.

We are not especially sad of his departure, he made his choice and the arrival of Xavier allowed the band to go even further in the composition, Pascal is still a good friend.

Not long ago I saw an interview of 7th NEMESIS in PANZERFAUST' zine. Do you remember this day, when somebody from Poland wanted to interview you? Did you have already earlier relations with my country?

I remember quite well, that was one of our first interviews actually and that was our first relation with Poland.

Do you know any Polish people personally? What do you think about us? Once we had a common history. We even died for your country some time ago!

Yes we took part of the organization of Yattering's concert in Paris. Really nice people in addition to being excellent musicians. Otherwise Polish girls that we met were very charming.

You released this promotional CD by your own about one year ago. Did you sent some to labels? Did you received some proposals?

Most of the Promo CD were sent to zines and radios to promote our work but we actually sent some of them to labels but few answered us. Generally the feedback was quite positive and we've got interesting contacts. For the moment Skull Fucked Prod. shall release in May a split CD entitled “Chronicles of a Sickness” with the Austrian Death Metal band Punishment, but we're still unsigned for the album.

Are there any new songs on Skull Fucked, or maybe they all come from the promo CD? I heard you were about to do something new…

The split CD “Chronicles of a Sickness” is composed of 4 new pieces including one downloadable on our site www.7thnemesis.fr.st which is entitled “Vitriol Made Flesh”.

7th NEMESIS mix Death/Black Metal with sounds from the 70's. Do you have any band that especially influence you? Tell me about these 30 years old bands!

Well, the fact is that we are definitely fond of late 60's and 70's artists such as Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Magma, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, King Crimson, Rush, Yes, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, and so on… but we are an Extreme Metal band above all, so most of our influences are Metal bands. Thanks for this interview and for your support. All Hails to Poland. Don't hesitate to check our website www.7thnemesis.fr.st and download the mp3s (for free). Stay fuckin' brutal!!!

Since you claim that metal bands influence your music, could you reveal their names? I guess you won't answer straight anyway… Nobody likes saying he makes use of what somebody else does…

Each musician has his own influences in metal, the principal ones are: Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, Morbid Angel, Death, Emperor, Carcass…

I wonder if you know if there still exists a black metal band LORD in France. I interviewed them some time ago and haven't heard about them for quite some time.

Never heard about them!!!!!

Let's get back to 7th NEMESIS. Who designed your logo and what is this gun behind it? I saw some guns which were included in the logo but it's the first time I've seen something like this…

We found and imagined the logo. B-lial, our graphic designer designed it as well as the site and all the Artwork. He is the sixth members of the Band. The image of the gun is a graphic representation related to our concept around the 9 points of the enemy and the name 7th Nemesis, it symbolizes the ultimate impulse…

Still on the gun: does it mean anything more than the fact you can lay vengeance with it…? Nemesis is a justice goddess as they say…

Well, in Greek mythology, Nemesis is the goddess of divine justice and vengeance. Her anger is directed toward human transgression of the natural, right order of things and of the arrogance causing it. Nemesis pursues the insolent and the wicked with inflexible vengeance. It also means a vengeful opponent and an implacable punishment. The 7th is a direct allusion to the octave law, which represents universality to us. The 7th note (B) that is, as each note, an impulse is the ultimate one before the return of the C (the original one). Thus, the 7th note is the ultimate impulse leading to the return to the original note as well as the 7th Nemesis is the ultimate punishment, vengeance or disaster leading to the return to the origins. As Nemesis also represents the opponent, the enemy, this impulse or advent shall only come through adversity and by a founding violence.

And eventually your final words…

Thanks for this interview and for your support. All Hails to Poland. Don't hesitate to check our website www.7thnemesis.fr.st and download the mp3s (for free). Stay fuckin' brutal!!!
