THE OCEAN – upcoming album, new singles and tour in Europe

German band THE OCEAN (also known as THE OCEAN COLLECTIVE) will release new album „Solaris” on 25th September. It will be bands 12th full studio album and it was recorded mainly in Hansa Studio in Berlin.

As the promo materials explain – the title of the release refers to an intelligent ocean from the book by Stanislaw Lem and later from Andrey Tarkovsky’s 1972 film of the same name. The lyrical content combines the dystopian sci-fi storytelling with existential contemplation inspired by the journals and records of real-life explorers. By poring over the historic documents related to explorers such as Da Gama, Magellan, and Sir Frances Drake, Solaris draws parallels between the cosmic explorations of Tarkovsky’s film, the explorative nature of artists and current-day political leaders. It asks questions of those among us who are seekers; what is the psychological cost of being so driven? What do we leave behind in pursuit of answers? What is the tipping point between exploring new terrains and dominating them for our own gain?

As usual the band does take their art seriously and issued a few singles to promote the album together with the videos that present intricate an intricate plot in sci-fi aura.

Around end of November, the band starts extensive tour around Europe as a headliner and with the company of PSYCHONAUT, THE DEVILS TRADE, HYPNO5E and POTHAMUS on selected dates.
