VITTORIA ETERNA – Interview with the band

Vittoria Eterna may sound new to you now, but in my opinion this band will surely go places! After following the YouTube channel for quite some time, I finally got a chance to interview the band. Needless to say, we went from their latest album to how metal has changed over the years!

First of all, I like what you’re doing with your YouTube channel, “Vittoria Eterna TV”. Was the concept of starting a YouTube more of a sudden thought at 2 AM in the night, or a planned one?

I have been in the music world since I was 7, I have always dreamed of playing gigs and sharing my passion to the ears of everyone in this world.

I saw you had released “Journey Interlude”. I listened to it, it is brilliant by the way! Can you tell us why you went for shorter format songs? Are you trying something new in the Neoclassical segment?

Yes, you are right. My songs are short because I found this interesting while playing classical music and guitar soloing because most of the songs in the entire world are 3 – 4 minutes long. So I just tried something different.
I am trying something more “easy-listening”. Currently stress is so common so maybe something relaxing may help.

How do you see 2022 – do you see it any different from 2021, perhaps a year many would like to forget?

In music terms, 2022 is a great year because shows are finally happening. I am planning a gig with Vittoria Eterna here in Monterrey, Mexico. It may happen late summer.

It is certain that you like Power Metal, or (or) and Neoclassical Metal. Do you have any Non-Metal influences?

I do, Antonio Vivaldi is a must if you want to listen to great melodies . I also really enjoy listening to some choirs, I love the ECCE HOMO song by Howard Goodall.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the current Metal industry? Would like your perspective as a fan, but both as a fan and a musician would be great!

Metal music has changed, I love what Stratovarius, Helloween, Yngwie Malmsteen made in the 80’s and 90’s. Now there exist new subgenres which are interesting, but personally I prefer speed metal and really high vocal range like Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius) and Michael Kiske (Helloween). New metal music is great but not that fast, but there are many metal bands that sound really, really great. Metal audience is increasing thanks to movies and series which add metal songs as soundtracks. We all miss the 80’s when music was more popular than football. Now football is more important than music. But that’s okay. In addition, there are many new tools new musicians can use to make music, to discover new music and to create new subgenres.

Assuming you know the ins and outs of YouTube, do you have a favourite YouTuber?

I enjoy watching Bernth and Rick Beato. You can learn way too much from their videos.

What’s in store for Vittoria Eterna in the second half of 2022? Are we getting an album?

I am writing some new music, definitely. But it may come out next spring 2023. This next half of 2022 will be focused on discovering new music & playing gigs.
