ALEJANDRO SILVA – Interview with Alejandro

Time has come for some shredding. If You ever wanted to play guitar better than everyone else, You should know this man. Alejandro Silva, leader of Alejandro Silva Power Cuarteto – top chilean shredding company tell's us what is going on in his band lately.

Hi Alejandro, thank You for Your time, it won't take long 😉 Can You shed some light on what is going on lately in ASPC?

My band is currently active, I am working on a new cd to be recorded soon I hope. We are working as a trio right now because I am short on one guitar. We did half a dozen live auditions and we have a very good player in sight that is very well known around here for his solo work. As he is fully commited we shall be a quartet again soon. I plan to record and do an international tour in nearby countries.

It is hard to know anything about ASPC for people who didn't use spanish language, almost every site or news is in spanish thou effectively limiting Your recognition. Have You ever expected to be listened or interviewed by polish guy?

Not really!!

Language can be sometimes a problem in making your work known in other countries. I am fully aware and fully guilty of this. Perhaps this could sound cynic, but I would like to think that I am not neglecting my duties for I am directing all my available time and energy to make music. I only think that it is a pity that there simply isn´t an instrumental rock promoting machinery out there as there is for the more commercial styles.

Besides music IS a language understood by everybody, or more boldly said, I let my guitar speak for me.

But fortunately Your music is truly international, with one catch – on Your last album one song has vocals. Do You plan making more such recordings?

I am constantly, but not frequently, composing in this format but I haven´t planned releasing something for now. If I find an amazing singer things could change…

Maybe You could tell us more about that cd which is to be recorded. Are there any ideas, or thoughts yet?

There is a lot of material. We began working on it as a trio early this year. The first stuff was something I began doing in 2008 and it is a very heavy music indeed. I wanted (and still want) to do a shockingly aggressive album exploring more my thrash roots, but as ideas kept piling up, especially new ones conceived as a trio, the material became softer, more “fusionate” (the trio band format let´s you go anywhere). So I am still deciding to mix all this music together in one cd or separate the material in two different items.

It is sad that Cristobal left the band, changes of line-up almost always have impacts on music, not only in way of play style, but also in composition. Did Cristobal have any influence on music writing process?

I am expecting to feel a change in my composition because I always compose with the band in mind. A new guitar player is a brand new exploring path for me musically. Cristobal did have an influence in this fashion but he never actually did any composing besides his solos.

Can You tell us something about new guitarist, or we have to wait till official annoucement?

I am sorry you will have to wait, but if this person finally enters the band it would give us a very strong push. He is very talented.

Is it any chance we will see You in Europe?

I really hope so. There has been some minor talk about inviting us to play in a big festival in Sweden, and probably that visit should take us at least to play in Norway. But nothing definite yet!!! I would like very much to visit Germany and of course Poland.

Your music is unique even for whole shred genre. Many great musicians want to shine on their records – at a cost of bandmates. Your records are perfectly balanced, I can hear even bass melodies and solos, what is veeery unusual in shred. Keep up the good work! Any last words for fans?

Thanks a lot.

Please keep on supporting metal. We believers are few, and surrounded by all sides by stupidity, let our beliefs lay deep, our convictions be strong and our music always stay true!

.

Bests
