HELLFIRE B.C. – Interview with James

Hello guys. I am Andrew. Congratulations on your debut album. I have known you since your first demo and i always believed that bands like you and Despise (R.I.P.) were the future of the thrash metal scene in Greece. The future has now became reality! How do you feel after the release of “Birth of the nuclear age” ?

Hi Andrew from me and the other guys. First of all, i want to thank you for your good words, concerning our band. Well, we feel very happy after the release of our first album. It was something that we were expecting to take place as reality for the last 2 years, so now that's true we're very pleased.

In the debut album i noticed that there are songs from your demos too like “u-238” from the s/t demo and breakneck speed from the “crystal age” demo. (Why didn't you include the killer “crystal age”?) Would you like to tell us which songs from this release are new ones and which are old ones but being performed again? I was expecting a cover , as unusual in your demos, but i was wrong. Do you think that in an album release you should act more professionally and not include a cover?

The killer “crystal age”!!!!!!wowwww!! Well, i think that is gonna be in our next album, if everything will go right with this one. Yes, there are songs from our demos in the album but they are so different that in our view they look new. All of our songs are based on the old songs, but there are many and big changes. “u-238”, “the dark gift” and “infernal dusk brigades” are the ones if you just think that “u-238” promo was only for record companies, distributors e.t.c. Few people heard it beyond them. We decided not to include a cover in the album 'cause we think that a debut album should present the bands material and only that. In the future i don't deny that there is a big possibility to include a cover.

Long questions! Let's have some smaller ones. The production is very good and lay out too. Are you satisfied with the album, now after its release, and what are your expectations from it?

Yes, we are satisfied with the production and with the lay out too. Nevertheless, if we had more time and more money i think that the result would be far beyond from what we hear. But, at the end everyone is pleased. Our expectations aren't many at the moment, we are a new band in discography and everything is difficult. The only thing that we want is that every metalhead who will hear it, to bang his head all over place. Hahaha…

Would you prefer to be a common band in the mainstream metal scene or one of the greatest bands in the underground scene? Do not reply something in the middle. Let's say it is a dilemma and you have to chose one…

We want to be one of the best bands in metal, so i think that your second proposal is closer. I choose this. This is the first step for our desire… hehehe…

Can you tell me a little bit about your lyrics? They all criticize society. Why is that? Do you think society and people can improve one day?

I don't think that all our lyrics criticize society. There are songs that the lyrics are about vampires and evil and these kind of shit. So there is not true a war with us and society. We just present some situations through our lyrics. The responsible for all the negative things that happens in our society is the background (high registered persons) that pull the strings. This is happening for many years and we think that is very difficult to achieve a change at least for the next century.

So, this is the last question. Are we at the … birth of the nuclear age or it was born many years ago? Thanks for your time and good luck for the future.

No, of course not. This happened many decades ago. But i think that now is the beginning (the birth) of the negative consequences from the old nuclear activities as we can all see (radioactive foods,e.t.c.) . This is what we mean with the title of our album. Thank you too Andrew. C-ya
