BLINDEAD – Interview with Havoc (ex- Behemoth).

Recently I was given the opportunity to conduct an interview with Havoc (ex- Behemoth) about his latest project 'Blindead'. More information and mp3s of Blindead's Current demo can be found at the bands website http://www.blindead.metalkings.com

State your name and what you do for the band

I'm Havoc and I'm playing guitar in the band.

At what point when you were first starting out did you mike, and Deadman feel it was time to take things to the next level by searching for a lead singer and drummer?

We just thought that the songs we made are good enough to start a real band. So, we asked Patryk and Konrad if they want to join us. That's how it started.

Did you already have some songs written?

Yeah, we had 2 songs written.

When you guys were known as “Incorrect Personality” you didn't really know what kind of music you wanted to play. Did you guys decide on a single style of music to play or did your style just evolve along with the songs?

Well, it came natural. We were practicing as much as we could and the style was changing. If you listen to our new stuff, you can see that the style changed a lot since the beginning. It's much heavier now.

Tell us what it was like going into the studio to record your first demo

We were excited, but now we r not satisfied about it. The quality is horrible and most of the songs are just crap. So, we are not proud of what we did. It's a really bad demo! Ha ha…

After you got of the studio you started playing concerts, what was it like during these first few concerts?

We played a few underground shows and it was pretty good. We had a lot of fun doing it. We were surprised that a lot of people were coming to see us.

Did the fans respond well to the new material?

Ha ha… actually, 'fans' never heard this demo, because we didn't release it. We decided to keep it for ourselves because it was so shitty!

In 2002 you entered the studio to record your material, while in the process of doing that the band realized that they need a stronger singer for the songs so you guys let Patryk go. Was it hard to ask Patryk to leave the band?

Yeah, it was hard. We were close friends. After that we lost the contact. I guess that's how he wanted it…But there was no way he could stay in the band.

It would be a year before you guys finally found a new lead singer to fill Patryk's place this must have been a relief for you guys to finally find a new vocalist. When you first heard Nick sing what made his voice stand out to you? Did you right from the get go that he was the one you wanted to replace Patryk?

I wish we could find Nick right after we kicked out Patryk. We could already have a contract with Avantgarde Music signed. They had already sent us all the papers, but we couldn't sign it without a singer. When I first heard Nick he was singing in the band called Neolithic. I just really liked his voice, so I called him and he said he's interested. We started to practice together. All of us liked it a lot so he joined the band. Now we have another problem 'cause our bass player Mike left the band.

Since you record your newest demo in the fall of 2003 with nick have you had any labels express interest in signing you?

There was a few labels interested. Currently I'm talking with one label from U.S. We'll see I hope we'll have this deal…

What happened between you and Behemoth that caused you to leave the band?

It was my decision to leave the band. There was no conflict between us. I was not interested about their music anymore. I felt I want to do something else right now. But it doesn't mean that I don't care about extreme metal at all. I have some plans to make another extreme band in the future, but now I'm focused in 100% on Blindead. Besides I had some personal reasons to leave Behemoth.

What do you about metal as a whole now days do you think it's changed from the first time you started listing to it?

Oh yeah, it changed a lot. But I think it's still strong. There's a lot of good bands around.

What CD's are you listing to at the moment?

I'm listening to different kinds of shit right now: Cult of Luna ”The Beyond”, the latest Mayhem album(killer!!!), Nevermore “Dreaming Neon Black”, Gojira ”The link”, Spiritual Beggars, Morbid Angel “Covenant”, The latest Ulver , Katatonia ”Brave Murder Day”, Meshuggah “Nothing”.

Well Havoc that's all the questions I have for you thank you very much for taking the time to give us an interview.

Thanx!
