THE SURROGATE Breaks Up

Brisbane-based sludge/metal band THE SURROGATE recently announced that they are disbanding. The band played a final show and hopes to still record their new songs for release.

The band commented on the break up:

“For those of us who have followed our progress it’s no secret that we’ve had a hard time holding down a firm line-up for more than a year, with various members bailing out to travel the world or simply not working out. When the last line-up fell apart in early 2009, it was just Geno and myself left. Given that we were the dudes that started the band together, we decided that so long as it was us two, THE SURROGATE would be able to exist as such. However, after taking some time off over the holiday period, and with interstate album recording and having already been planned for 2010, Geno has decided that THE SURROGATE presents a level of commitment that he is no longer enthused by. As such, our riff machine is gone, and the band is done. No point in beating a dead horse.”

The band further commented on what some members are doing:

“However idle hands never rest, and Geno and myself have a new project going with some mates called Ironhide. Check us out in the top friends if you dig Converge/Misery Signals. Geno’s on guitar, I’m having a scream. I can’t imagine it being the most serious of touring/recording bands, but who knows what the future holds! With any luck I will be drumming out more thunderously epic post-metal tunes with a new bunch of dudes in the not-too-distant future.”
