Cool songs: Methods of Survival, Burning Bridges

SUFFICATION was their name and they started playing in 1988, so it was some time ago. But in 1990 the band decided to change the name and that is how ATROX was born. During the first 8 years of existence, the band played some concerts, recorded demos and went through several line up changes. Since 1996 they have been recording some full-length albums under different labels, this one is their fourth.

And I do not know, what ATROX wanted to achieve by this album. If they aimed for orgasm, I must admit that they did not succeed. They must do and try much more, if they want someone… anyone to reach climax by listening to their music. The album is heavy and varied, but actually brings nothing new to the metal scene. What is more, it has tendencies to bore, after a few sounds. Even that sweet, spasmodic feminine voice is not enough to wake up the beast inside of every one of us. The compositions are rather longish and after a while one may find it useful to… switch off the CD player. Again, varied music, but done with not enough attention to the concept of creation. Fast and dynamic melodies are not enough, if each song sounds the same.

ATROX must have mistaken the title of their album. Orgasm is known from its wild pleasure and astonishing moment of relief. Unfortunately, none of those can be found in this music.
