When you listen the first metal riff in this effort, you can sense the real feeling of doom in the music ambiance…..and then, that violins take part of it. Just beautiful!. And that's what this album is all about, great fucking Doom Metal with a good dose of violins, enclosed by guttural voice, clear vocals, whispers and occasionally acoustic guitars, piano and cello. Great compositions full with that melancholic and depressive touch that makes Doom so special in the metal kingdom. And i repeat it, this is true Doom Metal, non a gothic-quasi doom band with a rock-pop oriented sound. Maybe Celestial Season had a different approach later in their career after this release (currently dismissed), but without a doubt, this is one of my favorite Doom Metal albums of all time. Personal Favorites: Dancing to a thousand symphonies, Solar child and Decamerone; but the whole album rules anyway!
