THE WAY OF PURITY has always been surrounded by an aura of secret. To be honest, at present I do not know which country they come from (at the beginning it was Sweden, now is an unknown country) and I don’t know who currently play in this band. I have the impression that the line-up is changing. Recently the fact is that some members unveil their faces (maybe not exactly, but at least in part). Once they covered their faces with balaclavas, masks or voiles. Musically, the band evolves from Melodic Death Metal to Metalcore with a predatory female growls through melodious Metalcore with a pure female singing (which we will listen to on this album), until he present day, in which the music combines elements of Industrial Metal, Gothic Rock with Dark Wave (with mixed vocals, but probably mostly male) … They will celebrate a decade of existence in next year …

However, before we hear the newest album announced for this year, I propose a retrospection of the last (third) album … To be honest, this album (quite different from the previous ones I heard) surprised me with the fact that female growlings was abandoned in favor of clean singing (with some little additions of male vocal accents). In addition, the overall atmosphere of the material is completely different, it’s more in style of Metalcore with a strong gothic dark melancholy breath and with clear inclusions of industrial electronic samples. At first I thought it might be some mistake, it is not this band … But it turned out that it was ok.

On this album, the music lost its brutality and rapacity, but on the other hand it gained for moodiness and emotionality. Although there are also moments of really sharp with instrumental driving, which after some time are relieved by calm vocals or electronic sounds. Generally, there are the splice of dynamic guitars with calm singing, which in effect makes the album is usually subdued, balanced …

Well, in the last 10 years I have listened to a lot of such Metalcore bands with clean female vocals and unfortunately this album is not very different (even with those industrial-dark-wave accretions). It is properly arranged, correctly made. It is OK. But nothing else.

After all, I’m curious about their newest album. I guess it has to be completely different again.
