Lithuanian Atra Musica Records released album of neurotics from XESS. The band produced 3 materials. The last album – “We, The Great Newrotics” came into being during 5 years! I do not penetrate, why it took so long. But this is important, that now we can savour this release… And contained music on the disc is not obsolete… But we go on…

XESS – it is the weird the name of band… “We, The Great Newrotics” – the title of album also is weird and the titles of works are intriguing too… The cover-art also is curiosical… I think, that Lithuanians from XESS have the feeling of humour… You will see the band photo and the pseudonyms and you will know what I mean… However listening the music XESS I did not laugh. The album hits in a face strongly with whole seriousness his arrangements… The music is marked with the crushing heaviness of guitars, growlings… they interweave themselves with massive melodies created by instrumental expressions as well as inspired singing (which sometimes sinks in regions of grotesque).

The works are very dynamic, variables and surprising. The strong and brutal tacts tear out heart from one side. But from second side – the melodious phrases appear. The climate of this mixture is dark and simultaneously melancholy with breath of psychedelia (the keyboards often underline this). During the listening of XESS composition I have remind Polish SIRAH and German CREMATORY… However XESS presents more brutal music than this first band.

I did not expect such music when I watched on the cover-art of album. The XESS made the great album, where we will hear the explosive mixture of Gothic/Death/Black Metal and sometimes Hardcore with strong Industrial additions.
